GPA Calcultor

Students can used the GPA Calculator online or manually as follows:

The GPA is calculated by dividing quality points (QPTS) by quality hours (QHRS). In order to achieve a 2.0 average QPTS must be at least 2X QHRS

QPTS are determined by multiplying the number of quality points for each grade (A=4, B=3, C=2, D=l, F=0) by the semester credit hours earned for the course.

QHRS are the total number of semester credit hours the student has attempted except for those for which a grade of I, W, P, AU or N is recorded.

GRADE POINT DEFICIT is the difference between the number of QPTS a student has earned and the number necessary to yield a GPA of 2.0 (2X the number of QHRS).

EXAMPLE:

Course Credit hours x Grade/QPTS = Total QPTS
ENGL1101 3 C (2) 6
MATH1101 3 D (1) 3
ESCI1101 3 C (2) 6
ESCI1101 Lab 1 D (1) 1
Total 10   16

GPA = QPTS (16) divided by QHRS (10) = 1.6

QPTS necessary for 2.0 = 20 [10 (QHRS) x 2]

Grade Point Deficit = 2*QHRS(10) - QPTS(16) = 4

If you do not achieve a 2.0 cumulative grade point average, you will be placed on Academic Probation. A student will continue on probation, provided they maintain a current (semester GPA) of 2.5 or higher, until they achieve a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
