Maureen joined the University Advising Center staff in April 2012. Prior to coming to UNC Charlotte, she worked as an academic advisor at Appalachian State University in the College of Business for close to 4 years. She loved living in the beautiful mountains of Boone, NC, but she is very excited to explore everything the “big” city of Charlotte has to offer. She enjoys being active: running, hiking, biking, swimming, and participating in anything competitive, but especially fun and challenging races! She’ll try anything once! In the past few years, she has completed 5K/10K runs, half marathons, triathlons, Muddy Buddy, Warrior Dash, the Great Urban Race and most recently (and certainly the craziest!) the Smoky Mountain Relay – a 208 mile relay race with 12 friends through the western North Carolina mountains.
Competitive by nature, she also loves playing board games, card games, arcade games, and lawn games. A few favorites are: Buck Hunter, bocce ball, spades, ladder ball, and Mexican train. To wind down most evenings, you will find Maureen testing her knowledge and competitiveness watching Jeopardy!
Maureen is excited to work with University College students as they explore their options at UNC Charlotte and develop all the necessary skills they need to succeed!
